Katatonia & Swallow The Sun Live in London Review
Fresh from my interview with Katatonia frontman Jonas Renkse (coming soon exclusively here on rocksins.com) in the side bar in the Garage that I never knew existed, I got to slip into the main room shortly before doors, so got a drink and got myself an excellent position for the opening band, Long Distance Calling [...]
Lostprophets Live at Brixton Academy Review
My most recent live encounter with Lostprophets at their Q Awards gig at The Forum in Kentish Town in October was for me, probably the worst live experience I have had in 7 years of seeing the Welsh 6 piece live, mainly due to the awful sound quality of the venue (nothing much wrong with [...]
Jesper Strömblad Leaves In Flames
IN FLAMES guitarist Jesper Strömblad has made the decision to permanently part ways with the band.
Jesper had previously gone on temporary leave from the band, due to an on going struggle with alcohol abuse. He was replaced during that time by Niclas Engelin.
In a statement from Strömblad regarding the situation, he states:
“I have decided it is [...]

Here at rocksins we’re constantly keeping an eye on the British metal scene and have identified 10 bands, some who are brand new and some who have been around for a while who we think are going to really make it big this year (and a few of them are already proving us right). Read [...]
David Ellefson Rejoins Megadeth
Megadeth founder and frontman Dave Mustaine has announced the return of original bassist David Ellefson (1983-2002) to the iconic multi-platinum group. This reunion is appropriately timed to Megadeth’s upcoming historic month-long Rust In Peace 20th anniversary tour which launches March 1 in Spokane, WA. At these incredibly special shows, Megadeth will play their [...]
Insomnium live at the Camden Underworld Review
I’ve been waiting to see Insomnium since I discovered their album “Above The Weeping World” when it was first released in early 2005, so nearly 5 years later I got the chance as they were supporting Swallow The Sun at The Underworld. This gig marked another first, as it was the first gig I ever [...]
Gojira Confirmed For Bloodstock Open Air 2010
French metal juggernauts Gojira have confirmed that their only UK appearance of 2010 is to take place on the opening night of Bloodstock 2010. The last we heard from Gojira they were taking 2010 off after 10 years on the road with very few breaks, but this news clearly shows they’ve had a bit of [...]
Why you should give a fuck about System of a Down reforming
Strong rumours are forming in the darkness, could it be true? System Of A Down Reforming?
System of a Down are unique in the world of rock, metal and alternative music. No-one sounds like them, and any imitators would sound rediculous if they tried. At times they are hugely over the top, but it does not [...]
Sylosis Interview
I was recently lucky enough to catch up with Josh Middleton, guitarist from Sylosis for an exclusive chat before their headlining show at The Garage in London (for a review of the show please click here) about the snow, what 2009 has done for Sylosis, The Thrash Big Four and what the band have in [...]
Sylosis Live at the Relentless Garage London
When you see a gig advertised jam packed with up and coming British Metal bands for the price of £8, you know you should be there, even more when the latest (and arguably greatest, sorry Malefice and Exit Ten) metal band to come out of Reading in the last few years, Sylosis, are headlining the [...]
Nixa – Guerilla

Nixa are a 4 piece hard rock band from London that have been around for approximately the last 3 years. They have won praise from various press and publications including Kerrang, Rock Sound and the London Metro Newspaper, and have been referred to as “One of the top 10 unsigned acts in the UK today”. [...]
Pelican – Interview with Bryan Herweg
Rocksins has been very lucky to have a chance to interview Bryan Herweg, Pelican’s bassist. Here are his thoughts on recording their new album, touring, and “really strong pot”.
Rocksins: Did you have a set musical direction you wanted to take with your new album (What We All Come To Need) before you started the writing [...]
Sylosis – Conclusion of an Age

Sylosis are a band who have been around for quite a long time (I remember seeing them in the listings for The Marquee in Hertford and other such small venues around London about 2 or 3 years ago) but have only in the last 12 months or so started to garner the attention they arguably [...]
Paradise Lost, Katatonia & Engel Live In London
After really enjoying Paradise Lost open up the Saturn stage on the Sunday of Sonisphere Knebworth, I was very interested in seeing them again. When they announced they were going to be playing Islington Academy with Scandavian Doom Metallers Katatonia, that was too good a show to pass up, so myself and my friend Matt [...]
