Mastodon Star On Later With Jools Holland on the BBC

Mastodon

In one of the biggest pieces of >metal news of the entire year, they came, they saw, they definitely conquered. In front of a selection of invited guests and those lucky enough to be successful when applying for tickets, Mastodon revealed themselves to the eyes and ears of the British public as a whole by blowing all the competition out of the water. Only the second “metal” band ever to play the famous Later With Jools Holland show on the BBC, they gave the opening track from their new album The Hunter, Black Tongue a ferocious airing to the delight of those in attendance. Mastodon’s profile has been rising at pace in recent years and this is just the clearest indication yet that the four piece from Atlanta are most likely future festival headliners and likely to be heard in arenas around the world in years to come.

Anyone who missed the first showing of Later With Jools Holland and who wants to catch Mastodon or indeed the show in its entirety on TV, it is repeated this Friday (21st October) at 11pm on the BBC. The show will also be available on the BBC iPlayer in due course. For those wanting to see Mastodon up close and personal their February 2012 UK Tour is now on sale (and something tells me after last night ticket sales may pick up speed dramatically).
