Fresh from one of the most epic UK festival performances of recent years after a performance which threatened to knock down the Bohemia tent at Sonisphere Knebworth this summer, Rock Sins is delighted to announce the news that French metal maestros Gojira have signed a record deal with Roadrunner Records.

Gojira are one of those rare breed of bands who can unite opinion of almost all, from the metal elitist holed up in their bedrooms and across the Internet, to the rock and metal press all the way to the biggest bands on the planet, with Metallica endorsing Gojira wholeheartedly and touring with them extensively across Europe over the last couple of years.

Gojira’s main man, singer and axeman Joe Duplantier sounded extremely pleased about Gojira’s new label home when asked to comment on the move:

“We are so stoked to walk with the legendary Roadrunner. We discovered Sepultura, Machine Head, Death, Fear Factory, and so many other great bands thanks to these guys. Roadrunner has been a great source of inspiration for us as metal fans. It’s an honour to be part of this family today as a band. We feel we’ll get the right support at the right moment in our careers We cannot wait to release our new record and get back on the road.”

Not to be outdone, Roadrunner’s own Senior Vice President of A&R Monte Conner had this to say about the latest edition to the fold:

“I’ve been a huge Gojira fan ever since their monumental “From Mars To Sirius” album and have been actively pursuing them ever since. I am thrilled to finally be welcoming them to the Roadrunner family. Gojira are one of the best bands in metal today, with a sound and style all their own.  Their live shows are unreal, from the level of playing, to the intensity, to the Godzilla like stomp that hits you in the chest.”

Continuing the recent theme of Roadrunner bands or band members doing their bit for charity (most notably Lamb of God frontman Randy Blythe and his wife’s epic efforts to raise money for cancer charities), Gojira have recently recorded a four song E.P. called the Sea Shepherd. Part of the money from sales of the Sea Shepherd E.P. will be given in donations to the charity of the same name which is an NPO (non profit organisation) involved in marine conservation (which seems highly appropriate for a band who’ve written about Flying Whales).

Gojira have recently entered the studio to begin recording their first full length release for Roadrunner and their fifth major release overall. They are aiming for a Spring 2012 release date on the yet as untitled album.

There’s also another big piece of news concerning Gojira: The band has also recently confirmed to be part of the 2012 installment of Australia’s Soundwave festival so get ready Australia, Gojira are headed your way very soon!
