Alcest, Chthonic, Lockup & Winterfylleth among new bands announced for Bloodstock Open Air 2012

Bloodstock Festival 2012

As always, Rocksins is extremely pleased to bring our readers the latest news from the Bloodstock Festival camp and they continue to outdo themselves, adding more fantastic bands to what is already the heaviest Bloodstock lineup ever.

Two new bands have been announced for the Ronnie James Dio Man Stage: Lock Up, the grindcore band who count members and former members of bands such as Dimmu Borgir, At The Gates and Napalm Death amongst their members. Lock Up were not expected to return after the death of their original guitarist Jesse Pintado (also of Napalm Death and Terrorizer) but after six years away (aside from a one off reunion a few years ago) they are now back with a new album to promote and will be back at Bloodstock to kick some serious ass. In addition to Lock Up, Taiwan’s finest metal exports Chthonic will be bringing their unique style of Orient Metal to the Dio stage on the Saturday of Bloodstock Open Air 2012.

That’s not all. The Sophie Lancaster stage also gains six new bands, including their third and final headliner. Making their first outdoor festival appearance in the UK, French metallers Alcest will be joining Bloodstock as headliners of the Sophie Lancaster stage. Increasingly popular amongst the UK metal underground, and starting to make waves in the mainstream including a 5K review of their last album in Kerrang, this is likely to be a hugely popular choice amongst the metal connoisseurs.

Not content with that, the UK’s own black metal band Winterfylleth are also joining proceedings, along with one of the most exciting metal bands to come out of the Asian music scene to date, India’s Demonic Resurrection. Rounding out the announcement are Eastern Front, Headcharger and Ancient Ascendant.

Tickets for Bloodstock Open Air 2012 are currently on sale for £115 from the Bloodstock website and all the usual outlets. For more rock & metal festival news including of course any more news from Bloodstock as well as Sonisphere and Download, please keep checking back with us regularly.
