Those who thought they had lost out on the chance to see an extraordinary one off show in the form of Queen performing with American Idol’s Adam Lambert when the 2012 edition of Sonisphere Knebworth was sadly cancelled may be able to think again. At the time Queen guitarist Brian May said that they would look to find another venue to hold the show in and news has broken that they may have done exactly that.
Queen will perform with Adam Lambert at the London HMV Hammersmith Apollo on the 11th and 12th of July 2012. These two shows have been organised by the band so that the fans would not be let down by the cancellation of the festival. In a nice gesture, those who were ticket holders of the Sonisphere Festival at Knebworth will be invited to the presale, along with members of Queen’s fanclub. They will gain access 24 hours before the tickets go on general sale. The presale will take place on the 17th of April with the generale sale being run on the 18th of April at 9am. Queen also plan to play a further two shows with Adam Lambert on the European mainland.
Queen have been discussing the announcement of the new shows, with drummer Roger Taylor having the following to say:
“We had made up our minds to play in the UK this year, so play we will! Following the collapse of the Sonisphere organisation we didn’t want to let down all those people expecting to see us live!”
