A very sad piece of news for Rocksins to be reporting just before Christmas as another member of the metal family has headed to the great festival in the sky in 2012.
Michael “Mike” Scaccia, best known as the guitarist for industrial metal legends Ministry and thrash metallers Rigor Mortis passed away on Saturday night (December 22nd 2012). Scaccia was on stage performing with Rigor Mortis in Fort Worth, Texas at a show that was a celebration for Rigor Mortis’ singer Bruce Corbitt’s fiftieth birthday. Sadly during the performance Mr Scaccia suffered a seizure and was rushed to hospital but passed away not long after at the facility.
Bruce Corbitt passed comment on the passing of his bandmate by paying tribute to Mike:
“My brother is gone! The only reason I am who I am is because of this man. If it wasn’t for him I wouldn’t even be in a band. RIP Mike — the greatest guitar player I ever knew. I’m proud to say that I was always Mike Scaccia’s biggest fan, and always will be.”
