We were all warned that the first announcement concerning the UK leg of the 2013 Vans Warped Tour was imminent last week and true to their word, the organisers have unleashed the first batch of bands upon the UK, including the event’s first headliners. What will be occuring at Alexandra Palace this coming November? Well now we can start to inform you…
Having been tearing up venues across all continents for well over a decade, US post hardcore legends Rise Against are taking their seats atop the Warped Tour throne as the first headliners for this years’ UK Warped Tour. Rise Against’s enigmatic singer Tim McIlrath has reflected on their journey from Warped Tour openers to closing the event this year:
As a band that used to open the lowliest of Warped side stages in sun-drenched parking lots across the states, we’re elated to be headlining Warped Tour UK as it spreads its wings across the pond.
So, who’s coming out to play with Rise Against? First up are Canadian punk rockers Billy Talent. No strangers to UK shores, having headlined the second stage at Download amongst other notable appearances, Billy Talent continue their appearance on this years’ US Warped Tour by coming over for the UK leg as well.
Having been one of the hits of last years’ event, Japanese dance metal band Crossfaith earn a well deserved promotion to the main stage this time around. Well known for songs such as Jagerbomb and their huge cover of The Prodigy’s Omen, expect carnage to ensue on a much larger scale when they take to the stage this time around.
Regular visitors to the UK, pop punk band Yellowcard are also on board for this years’ UK Warped Tour, much to the delight of singer Ryan Key:
We have been a part of the Warped Tour family for over a decade now. We are so honored to help bring the Tour overseas!
Having recently given an exclusive interview to Rocksins.com (read that here), former King Blues frontman Itch will be bringing his diverse solo show to Alexandra Palace. Having attended last years’ event as a punter, Itch is looking forward to taking to the stage this time around.
Back to the world of the time honoured sound of Warped Tour over the years – pop punk – and there will be a UK debut from one of the US’s hottest new pop punk bands in the shape of Real Friends. They’re not just coming from the UK and the US for this event either, as Australian upstarts Capture The Crown will making their Warped Tour bow this November too.
With tons more bands to be announced to appear on four stages across both days of the event, plus all the usual extras like sporting exhibitions from the worlds of skating and BMX, plus the merchandise market and lots of opportunities to meet the artists at various signing sessions & opportunities, The 2013 UK Vans Warped Tour really will offer something for everyone! Tickets are now on sale for the event at the Official Vans Warped Tour website (www.vanswarpedtouruk.com) so if you like what you’ve read, head over to the website and get yourself some tickets!
Further announcements for both the UK and European Warped Tours will be available here in the coming weeks and months as we get them, including who the other headline acts for the UK event will be!
