Slayer’s Jeff Hanneman Passes Away At The Age Of Forty Nine

Rocksins.com is absolutely devastated and saddened to report that Slayer guitarist Jeff Hanneman passed away today (2nd May 2013) at the age of 49. His Slayer band mates have put out the following statement through the Slayer Facebook page:

Slayer is devastated to inform that their bandmate and brother, Jeff Hanneman, passed away at about 11AM this morning near his Southern California home. Hanneman was in an area hospital when he suffered liver failure. He is survived by his wife Kathy, his sister Kathy and his brothers Michael and Larry, and will be sorely missed.

Jeff had not been actively touring with Slayer on a regular basis for the last couple of years after being diagnosed with necrotizing fasciitis.

Everyone at Rocksins’ sends their heartfelt condolences and sympathy to Jeff’s wife, the rest of the Hanneman family, his friends and the rest of the Slayer family. As and when there are any updates, we will bring them to you. R.I.P Jeff.
