As many of us in the metal community know, sadly in April of this year Deftones bassist Chi Cheng lost his long struggle with illness after being in a coma and semi-comatose state for many years. Throughout his illness the “OneLoveForChi” project had helped to fundraise towards the medical costs associated with Chi’s long stay in hospital.
OneLoveForChi continues as a project to this day, helping to fundraise for the medical faciltiies and organisations that did such a good job in caring for Chi during his illness, and an extraordinary fundraising event for the project has just been announced.
In March, Deftones’ UK publicist Emma Van Duyts took part in a unique project with Converse and Instagram, and she amassed a collection of rare and one of a kind items over the course of March 2013. Amongst the collection of items gathered were signed setlists, drum sticks and merchandise from the likes of Deftones, Letlive, The Ghost Inside and You Me At Six among many others. There are also VIP tickets to Reading / Leeds, VIP Tickets to the UK Vans Warped Tour, huge collections of other merchandise from various brands and all sorts of other items. This one of a kind bundle is to be auctioned off in a charity raffle with all proceeds going to the OneLoveForChi project.
