Donington Park will be rocking and rolling to the sounds of good old Bostonian blues rock next June as classic rock legends Aerosmith are confirmed as the final headliners for the Download Festival 2014! Having released their first original album in more than a decade last year in the shape of “Music From Another Dimension”, Aerosmith return to Download for their second appearance, having previously headlined the storm soaked Sunday of 2010. All of us who braved the conditions to see them will be hoping for better weather this time around (although the Sun came out just before them after 6 hours of torrential rain) to enjoy the likes of Love In An Elevator, Walk This Way and Dream On.

The legend that is Mr Joe “F**kin'” Perry had this to say about Aerosmith’s return to Donington and the UK:

“It’s been too long since we’ve been to England and we’re sincerely f**ing charged to be coming back! See you there”

Joining Aerosmith in what will be a wildly popular move are US hard rockers Alter Bridge. Having recently completed a sold out UK arena tour with Shinedown and Halestorm, the cries for Alter Bridge to headline the festival have been getting ever louder since the tour and the band’s magnificent new album Fortress. They may not be headlining but in the special guest slot, their highest profile appearance to date, Mark, Brian, Scott and Myles will have ample set time to put on a show like only they can. Aerosmith will have their work cut out to follow these guys!

Aerosmith join the previously announced Linkin Park (Saturday) and Avenged Sevenfold (Friday) as headliners of the 2014 Download Festival. Alter Bridge join Fall Out Boy and Rob Zombie as special guests on the respective days. Discounted tickets for Download 2014 are available at early bird prices (£10 discounted from the 2013 prices which means the full five days camping and arena ticket is £185 plus fees). This special offer is available this week only until Friday 8th of November. Over 100 acts will be eventually announced for Download 2014 and we will keep you posted on further announcements over the coming weeks and months!
