Another day, another huge festival announcement and today brings the first headliner for the annual Reading and Leeds bank holiday weekender. It’s a cracker too, as pop punk royalty Blink 182 have been confirmed their return to Reading and Leeds for the fourth time. Speaking on Zane Lowe’s Radio One show at seven o’clock Blink 182 bassist Mark Hoppus confirmed that the band will be working on new material after Christmas with the aim of having a new album ready for their Reading and Leeds appearance. Mark also had the following to say:
“I’m stoked to play Reading & Leeds 2014. It’s our fourth time playing the festivals, and we’re very honoured. The new year will see us in the studio preparing new music, getting ready to rock the fine people of the UK. Prepare for the fury.”
Joining Blink will be US metalcore act Of Mice & Men, who’s new album Restoring Force is due out next month through Rise Records, alongside British dance superstars Disclosure, who’ve had success all over the world with their album Settle.
Also on board in the first batch of artists are Disclosures fellow dance act Mark Wilkinson, the Zane Lowe championed “Modern pop act” Metronomy, Reading and Leeds regular indie boy Jake Bugg, and grime / dnb act I Am Legion.
Limited early bird tickets are available at the price of £202 plus booking fees and postage from Seetickets and Ticketmaster. More announcements will follow in the coming days and weeks and Rocksins.com will bring them to our readers as and when they happen so stay tuned to see who will join Blink 182 in headlining Reading and Leeds 2014.
