Long speculated among the world of social media and the Internet, it was confirmed on Zane Lowe’s Radio One show last night (and then further confirmed by the press release announcement shortly thereafter) that Paramore and Queens Of The Stone Age would co-headline at Reading and Leeds Festivals 2014. With the festivals social media accounts having announced a few days earlier “we’re giving you four…” everyone knew some form of co-headline set up was in the works and now all has been revealed. Tennessee’s finest pop rock export Paramore and Californian alt rockers Queens Of The Stone Age will each headline at one location with the bands swapping for the other site – which way round it will take place is still to be confirmed.

Among the other bands announced to go along with Paramore and QOTSA, several of them will be joining the new co-headliners by appearing on the main stage. Top of this group are St Albans’ favourite trance rockers Enter Shikari, playing one of their biggest UK festival slots ever. Original emo rockers and favourites of the UK festival scene, Jimmy Eat World have announced they’ll be returning to Reading and Leeds in 2014. Alongside them will be two of the rising stars of the UK rock and metal scene; Deaf Havana, who’s recent album Old Souls went Top 10 in the UK and grime / metal crossover act Hacktivist will both join Jimmy Eat World, Enter Shikari, Paramore and Queens Of The Stone on Friday at Reading and Saturday at Leeds.

On the Sunday at Reading and Friday at Leeds pop metal favourites A Day To Remember will appear at Reading for the first time since 2010 in an exclusive performance along with their fellow Americans rockers Sleeping With Sirens. The Saturday at Reading and Sunday at Leeds sees UK rockers Don Broco take to the Radio One / NME stage and there are several more interesting bands announced with their stages to be confirmed. Among them are post-hardcore superstars letlive., pop punk rising stars Neck Deep, UK rock favourites Lower Than Atlantis and fellow homegrown talent, the ever increasingly popular math rockers Marmozets. These are just a handful of the forty plus acts who were added to Reading and Leeds 2014 but these are the ones that will generally be of interest to our readers.
