Delighted fans of Surrey rockers You Me At Six queued for hours in the cold streets of Glasgow on Thursday, 30th of January, for what was anticipated to be an ecstatic and electrifying performance from the quintet, and they didn’t disappoint.
Travelling around the UK promoting their latest album, Cavalier Youth out now, You Me at Six emerged in front of a sold out event to a heart stomping delightful short set of old favourites mixed with new singles. Originally a set of 6 songs “Too Young”, “Fresh Start Fever”, “Cold Night” and “Lived a Lie” from new album along with “Stay With Me” and “Reckless” were strong songs to get the crowd’s blood pumping more than it already was. However near the end of their set, the band explodes with an unscheduled performance of “Underdog” causing the fans to erupt with excitement, causing the entire performance floor to tremble under their very feet.
After their electrifying performance fans race and stumble to reach the signing area to meet their idols. Taking up the entire top and middle floors, and still two queues outside, fans squeal with disbelief and tear up as they meet the 5 men they adore.
At the end of it’s first week of release, You Me at Six topped the album charts and achieved their first UK number 1 with “Cavalier Youth” selling 32, 500 copies in its first week. With multiple dates now sold out on their headline tour in March, 2014 looks set to be one of the band’s most successful and important year for their music to date.
