In a very fitting tribute to an inspirational young man and a member of the Download Festival family, it has been announced by Andy Copping and the Download Festival HQ team that this years’ event will have the main stage named after Stephen Sutton. The Stephen Sutton Stage will serve as a reminder of Stephen’s tremendous fundraising for the Teenage Cancer Trust which currently stands at £3.9 million and it’s still growing.
After being diagnosed with terminal cancer, one of the goals on Stephen’s bucket list was to crowd surf in a rubber dingy at a Cancer Bats gig, something he managed to achieve last year. Stephen attended Download in 2013 during his battle with cancer and the Download team are delighted to honour Stephen’s spirit of goodwill and defiance against his battle with cancer, as well as his memory with this tribute.
If anyone wants to donate to Stephen’s Teenage Cancer Trust Just Giving page they can do so at the following link – https://www.justgiving.com/Stephen-Sutton-TCT.
Tickets for this years’ Download Festival are still available for the full weekend and individual days. The event is being headlined by Avenged Sevenfold, Linkin Park and Aerosmith with over 100 bands appearing across three days and five stages at Donington Park on the 13th – 15th of June 2014.
