Judas Priest & Rise Against Celebrate UK Album Chart Success With New Albums

Judas Priest on Stage at High Voltage

Yet more success in 2014 when it comes to the UK album charts for rock and metal (and punk rock in this case) artists and this week it’s a double dose to continue on from other successes, most recently Mastodon hitting the top ten.

When it comes to metal bands, and especially British metal bands there are few more legendary than the Metal Gods themselves, Judas Priest. The Priest’s latest album, and first in six years since 2008’s Nostradamus, Redeemer Of Souls just missed out on the top 10, charting at a very respectable number twelve. With many hailing it as the best Judas Priest album since Painkiller back in 1991 (though others would argue the competition since then hasn’t been stellar), it’s good to see that a return to form for The Priest has been matched by chart success.

Clocking in just one place behind Judas Priest at number thirteen are punk rock favourites Rise Against with their new album The Black Market. With a hugely successful headline appearance at the UK Warped Tour last year and a big tour planned on these shores for November 2014, this is yet more evidence of the love for Rise Against in the UK.

This shows once again that rock and metal fans will continue to support the bands they love by buying their music – and we implore you to keep doing so. Everyone knows that spare cash isn’t as plentiful as it once was but buying albums (especially from bands directly) makes all the difference, so keep supporting your favourite bands and let’s see even more rock & metal chart successes throughout the rest of the year.
