They teased it for weeks with a steady build up and their enigmatic frontman Corey Taylor even hinted at it on his personal Twitter account but Friday has arrived and Slipknot have unveiled a brand new song!
The first new piece of music to come out of the Slipknot camp in almost six years since the launch of previous album All Hope Is Gone in late 2008 is a single titled The Negative One. Fans of The ‘Knot can listen to The Negative One by heading to the official Slipknot website www.slipknot1.com where they can listen once for free. If you want to hear it more than once Slipknot would like their maggots to sign up to the official Slipknot web community titled “Outside The Nine”.
The track has already received a widespread and generally positive response from fans across the globe all over the Internet and Social Media, with The Negative One raising memories of the first two major Slipknot albums, the self titled and Iowa, in particular. Rock Sins suspicions when we covered the last teaser announcement that the titles of the posts on the Slipknot tumblr site (https://slipknot.tumblr.com) were song lyrics was proven correct (you’ll see for yourselves when you give The Negative One a listen).
So, after three weeks of intense build up, new music from the Iowan metal giants can finally be heard. We’d love to know what you think of it so please leave us a comment with your opinion or Tweet us at @Rocksins. No doubt more announcements will be made in the coming days and weeks as the build up to the next Slipknot album continues and we’ll have all the news as it is announced right here on Rock Sins, so stay tuned!
