With a good portion of us all recovering from another fantastic Download Festival, the week of Download has also coincided with some great sales news for rock albums in the UK album chart over the last week.
To the surprise of very few people, Download’s Saturday night headliners, Devonshire rock trio Muse have hit number one in the UK album chart with their brand new album Drones. With lead singles Psycho and Mercy among others getting live airings at Donington, Muse may well have shifted more copies off the back of that performance.
Two other Download 2015 bands have also entered the Top 40 this week. Young Guns, fresh from their secret band appearance have clocked in at number 21 with their new record Ones and Zeros. Meanwhile Alter Bridge and Creed guitarist Mark Tremonti’s second album from his Tremonti solo project Cauterize is just behind them at number 23.
With new albums due from the likes of Lamb of God, Slayer and Iron Maiden to name but three in the next few months expect to see some metal albums alongside those who’ve already put in good chart performances in the UK so far this year.
