Bloodstock Open Air Festival 2015 is looming large on the horizon, being just over a month away already! For something slightly different, we thought we’d compile a selection of great songs and their accompanying videos by some of the many fantastic artists appearing at Catton Hall this August. So, here’s 15 videos by 15 of the bands appearing at Bloodstock 2015!
Trivium
Deemed not “tr00 metulz” enough by some of the Internet elitists, Rock Sins is very confident that our long time friends Trivium will pull out all the stops and put on a brilliant performance for their first time headlining a UK festival main stage. Expect a set packed full of songs from across the bands dozen plus years together, including newer material such as last hit single Strife.
Sabaton
Special guests to Trivium on Friday night, power metal specialists and war enthusiasts Sabaton will provide one hell of a precursor to Matt Heafy and co. Arguably the most popular power metal band for UK audiences right now (sorry Dragonforce), Sabaton have gone from strength to strength on UK shores in recent times. Check out their video for Hell and Back and enjoy one of Scandinavia’s finest metal exports (and that’s saying something considering their contemporaries!):
Within Temptation
Dutch symphonic metal superstars Within Temptation are Saturday night headliners at Bloodstock Open Air 2015. They are another band who’s announcement elicited a few grumbles, but having headlined one of the earliest instalments of Bloodstock, not to mention playing venues the size of Wembley Arena and arenas all across Europe, We think it’s the perfect time for Sharon den Adel and friends to be topping the bill at BOA. Songs like In The Middle Of The Night are tailored made for Catton Hall.

Opeth
Always likely to take the award for best stage banter of the weekend with frontman Mikel Akerfeldt’s legendary dry sense of humour, former headliners of Bloodstock Opeth this year find themselves in the Saturday special guest slot. Many will not care where they are on the line up – just that they are there is enough. Celebrating their 25th anniversary as a band in October with a show at the London Palladium, BOA 2015 is your only chance to see them between now and then. The Grand Conjuration is among their finest offerings of fairly recent times.
Rob Zombie
Closing Bloodstock this year is none other than The Lord Of Horror himself Rob Zombie. Aided by the fact he’ll be able to perform in the darkness (unlike Download last year) and with his full production in tow, it should be a mighty conclusion to the Catton Hall 2015 festivities. Check out his video for recent hit Dead City Radio And The New Gods of Supertown below:
Black Label Society
Another Bloodstock debut this year comes in the form of none other than Mr Zakk Wylde and Black Label Society. Sunday night’s special guests are likely to appeal to virtually everyone at BOA with their mix of powerful songs and Zakk’s guitar mastery. Enough from us – just enjoy the video for My Dying Time!
Fleshgod Apocalypse
Italian extreme metallers Fleshgod Apocalypse are headlining the Sophie Stage on Saturday night at BOA 2015. They’ve always had a flair for the dramatic to match the extremeness of their music, and nowhere is this more evident than in the masterful video for The Forsaking (previous winner of a Rock Sins Video Of The Year award):
Hang The Bastard
Masters of the sludgy riffs courtesy of Sam Rice and long time friends of ours here at Rock Sins, London stoner metal miscreants Hang The Bastard are a band not to miss on the Sophie Stage late on Friday afternoon. There you can see offerings like the brilliant Sex In The Seventh Circle, for which you can watch the trippy video right now!
Triaxis
Quite possibly the best thing to come out of Wales ever (at least since Sir Tom Jones), UK power metal five piece Triaxis may have gone under the radar of some people but Krissie’s vocals are powerful enough to wake a sleeping elephant whilst their albums contain quantities of riffs so plentiful even the likes of Mark Tremonti and Slash would be proud. Check out their video for Black Trinity to see exactly what we mean:
Sepultura
This video (and indeed, Sepultura themselves) almost needs no introduction. It’s one of the most famous metal songs of all time and will be aired in all it’s glory on Sunday afternoon on the Ronnie James Dio main stage. Max and Igor may not be there anymore, but Derrick and co still do a mighty fine job. We challenge you not to lose your shit to Roots Bloody Roots. You’ll fail.
Five more of the best:
British stoner groove metal veterans Orange Goblin have never been better, as evidenced by the likes of Sabbath Hex:
Within Temptation’s touring buddies Delain have some mightily fine symphonic metal offerings of their own, such as We Are The Others:
Raging Speedhorn’s presence at BOA 2015 is most welcome. There will be hardly a member of the audience (except perhaps the youngest among them) who doesn’t know Thumper:
Matt Heafy’s idol and Emperor legend Ihsahn will be in attendance at BOA 2015. Enjoy all his creative brilliance with the video for Invocation
Thursday night on the Sophie Stage will mean one thing: time to GET TO THE CHOPPAH with Arnocorps. What could be the most fun performance of Bloodstock 2015 will feature songs such as Predator. GOOOOOOOO!
Bloodstock Open Air Festival 2015 takes place from the 6th to the 9th of August at it’s usual home of Catton Hall in Derbyshire. For the full line-up featuring all of the above bands and dozens more, as well as to purchase your tickets (only £135 for four days of metal action) please head to the official Bloodstock Festival website www.bloodstock.uk.com.
