Ozzy Osbourne. Tony Iommi. Geezer Butler. The founding fathers of heavy fucking metal, aka Black Sabbath, will once again return to Donington, probably for the last time (at least all together) as Black Sabbath have been confirmed as Saturday night headliners for the Download Festival in 2016. Having headlined previously in 2005 and also shortly after their reformation in 2012, this will be Sabbath’s third time topping the bill in the history of Download’s thirteen year existence. Ozzy’s certainly looking forward to returning judging by this short and sweet comment:
“Download is my absolute favourite summer festival. It’s always like coming home. See you all there!”
Black Sabbath join British metal legends Iron Maiden, who were confirmed as the first headliners twenty four hours ago as Sunday night headliners, meaning Iron Maiden will close Download for the second time, having done so in 2007, with 2016 being their fourth Download headline slot in total.
The early bird tickets for Download 2016 sold out in record time, but fear not, tickets will be back on sale this coming Friday (23rd October 2016) at 9am, on the official festival website www.downloadfestival.co.uk/tickets. Please return tomorrow once again at the same time (around 7pm) for the final Download Festival headliner announcement for 2016! You may also want to keep an eye on @DownloadFest on Twitter.
