Well none of us saw this coming. Slipknot were supposedly taking the bulk of 2016 off after an extremely busy year and a half, so Radio One’s Dan Carter dropped a mega-maggot bombshell on The Rock Show last night when he announced Slipknot would be returning to the UK early next year for a brand new tour.
Metal’s favourite nine piece act will be returning to UK shores in early February, playing shows in London, Cardiff, Birmingham and Leeds. The full details are right here:
Slipknot February 2016 UK Tour
Mon 8th – Cardiff – Motorpoint Arena
Tue 9th – London – Alexandra Palace
Fri 12th – Birmingham – Genting Arena
Sat 13th – Leeds – First Direct Arena
Pre-sales for the tour will begin on Wednesday 7th October through Slipknot’s official fanclub OT9 – https://www.slipknot1.com/ot9. There may well be some venue pre-sales and a Live Nation pre-sale on Thursday the 8th, before going on general sale at 9am on Friday the 9th of October. Prices for tickets are still TBC.
Never shy of a few words, here’s Corey Taylor’s take on returning to the UK early next year:
“Any time we get the chance to come over to the UK, it’s awesome. Hopefully the fans have as much fun as we do. We’ll be putting together a great set for them, and as we fill out the bill with bands, we hope the excitement gets even bigger.”
Slipknot were most recently in the UK headlining the Download Festival in the torrential rain back in June at Donington Park. You can see our review of that performance here, along with a review of their January 2015 blinding UK tour show at Wembley Arena. We’ve also got an exclusive photo gallery from the Wembley show that can be enjoyed here. Based on recent evidence, particularly the Wembley show, this tour is not one to be missed!
Slipknot will also be unveiling a brand new music video for their much-loved intro song from .5: The Gray Chapter, XIX, at 5pm today (Monday 5th October), on their official website. Head over to https://www.slipknot1.com/xix at 5pm to check it out.
More news from the Slipknot camp as and when we get it, who knows what will be next!
