American rock legends Twisted Sister have in the last few minutes been confirmed as the Friday night headliners for the 2016 Bloodstock Open Air Festival. The performance will be Twisted Sister’s last ever UK performance as the band are set to retire after four decades together, following the loss of their drummer and comrade in rock n’roll AJ Pero earlier in 2015.
Twisted Sister’s guitarist Jay Jay French reflects on Twisted Sister’s history with the British Isles:
“Our journey in the UK that began in Wrexham in 1982, ends with Bloodstock 2016! Without the recognition that we received from our UK fans, the world would never have known nor would we ever have reached our 40 year milestone!”
Twisted Sister join prog metal maestros Mastodon who were revealed as the first headliner for Bloodstock 2016 on the BBC Radio One Rock Show with Daniel P Carter last Sunday, along with Venom and Behemoth (who will perform the majestic “The Satanist” in full). Both Venom and Behemoth will appear on the Friday along with Twisted Sister with Behemoth providing one hell of a warm up act for Twisted Sister as their “special guests”.
Early bird tickets for Bloodstock Festival 2016 are available for just £120 plus fees and postage from the festivals official website www.bloodstock.uk.com. Stay tuned to Rock Sins for further Bloodstock announcements including for the final headliner announcement in due course.
