A bit of an odd one as far as we’re concerned here at Rock Sins. Trivium have been somewhat well known for their revolving drummer situation over the last few years with Travis Smith, Nick Augusto and most recently Mat Madiro all taking stints behind the Trivium drumkit so far this decade.
Now the good people at Blabbermouth are reporting that Paul Wandtke is the latest name to take up the role of Trivium drummer. Wandtke made his debut with Trivium performing today as the band appeared in Mexico for the Mexican edition of Slipknot’s KnotFest festival. Paul is a former drummer for the very famous musical Rock Of Ages and has also played with the band Kill Hannah in the past.
Whether this means Mat Madiro will continue to be a recording member of Trivium, and just not be touring with the rest of the band, or whether he has left the band entirely and they do not wish to hire a new permanent drummer needs clarification. As soon as there is an answer on this one way or the other we will let our readers now. Keep your eyes on Trivium’s official Twitter @TriviumOfficial for the latest.
