For any band to reach their tenth album is a very special achievement. That the band is the much loved Swedish progressive metallers Katatonia will led to much happiness worldwide, as they announce the release details of their new album The Fall Of Hearts. Four years on from the release of another acclaimed classic Dead End Kings, The Fall Of Hearts will be released on the 20th of May 2016 through Peaceville Records.

Having released both their experimental reworking of Dead End Kings – Dethroned & Uncrowned and their acoustic album Sanctitude in the interim, Katatonia describe The Fall Of Hearts as another step on their musical journey and evolution:

“This album is probably everything we unknowlingly ever dreamed of to release. It’s a bleak but adventurous journey through our elements, we haven’t held back, we have pushed to get forward and backward in the ever spiralling night of our musical legacy.”

The band have also released a teaser trailer for The Fall Of Hearts which can be seen below:

This will be the first Katatonia album to feature new drummer Daniel ’Mojjo’ Moilanen and also recently recruited guitarist Roger Öjersson who is known for playing with Tiamat. There are no UK appearances as yet confirmed for the band in 2016, but they have confirmed for a number of festivals on the European mainland so fingers crossed we will see them in the UK sometime throughout the rest of the year. Stay tuned for more updates from one of Rock Sins’ favourite Scandinavian bands.
