In a week FULL of festival announcements from the UK’s major alternative festivals, it is only fitting that Bloodstock Open Air 2017 join the party by announcing another four bands for this year’s edition.
First up, Sweden’s wonderful melodic death metal act Soilwork will be gracing the Ronnie James Dio main stage at Bloodstock Open Air 2017. Their frontman, Bjorn “Speed” Strid is very pleased about coming back to UK shores:
“We are really thrilled to return to UK soil after a killer mini-tour with Arch Enemy last year. That ended with one of the most spectacular and sweatiest shows to date at The Underworld in London. Bloodstock is always a riot and we cannot wait to hit the stage this summer. Bring it England!!!”
Three bands have also been confirmed for the Sophie Lancaster Stage (second stage), including two of it’s headliners. Firstly, much heralded melodic death metallers Wintersun will be headlining the Sophie Stage at this year’s Bloodstock Festival, in an announcement that is likely to delight the band’s hardcore army of UK fans and see them head to Catton Hall in their numbers.
Also headlining the Sophie Stage are Chicago multi-genre fusing act Macabre. Described as combining “true crime, math rock, punk, thrash, folk melodies, death metal, jazz fusion, black metal and more”, Macabre are certainly not your every day metal band, and Bloodstock 2017 will be the band’s first UK appearance in several years. We think it may be one performance not to miss if you can help it.
Lastly for this announcement, taking up a slot on the Sophie Lancaster Stage will be Egyptian metallers Scarab. If you’ve not heard them before – check out one of their recent tracks, the very fittingly titled “Serpent Of The Nile”:
