Our team are still recovering from an amazing weekend at Bloodstock Open Air Festival 2017. But, fresh from the festival itself, at Catton Hall on Saturday night they announced not one but two of the headliners for next year’s Bloodstock!

After a decade away, Scandinavian symphonic metal giants Nightwish will be returning to BOA to headline in 2018. Given that their last UK festival slot was direct support to Iron Maiden on the Download Festival mainstage in 2016, a return to Bloodstock to top the bill felt like a case of “when, not if”. We now know when will be next year. Here’s the announcement video confirming Nightwish’s return to Catton Hall:

Judging by their comments, Nightwish sound very happy to be returning to headline Bloodstock after ten years since their last appearance:

“We can’t wait to hit the mighty BLOODSTOCK Festival in 2018! By then we’ll be in full flight on our ‘Decades’ World Tour (a retrospective) so expect an unusual setlist with a bit of nostalgia for the old fans, but some recent epics for the new. We will throw ourselves into it with everything we’ve got so be there!”

Joining them as headliners are French metal titans Gojira! Having subbed to Mastodon at BOA 2016, 2018 will see Gojira take the final step up to festival headliner status in the UK at last. Here’s their video reveal from Saturday night:

Here’s what Gojira had to say about their return to headline Bloodstock 2018:

We are excited and honoured to headline BLOODSTOCK festival in 2018. One of our favourite festivals in the world. We had such a great time in 2016 with the BLOODSTOCK crowd and are sure that 2018 will be even better. We are already planning what we can do to make it the most awesome GOJIRA show yet. We can’t wait!”

Early bird tickets can be obtained from http://bloodstock.seetickets.com/ priced at £125 plus fees. Those who are waiting for the VIP tickets – they become available on September 1st.
