Seventeen new bands for Download Festival 2018! And there are some huge names and bands of all size among the seventeen new additions.
Leading the charge in this second announcement from Andy Copping and the Download Festival powers that be are Alexisonfire! The Canadian post-hardcore royalty last played Download back in 2006 (alongside headliners of that year and this, Guns N’Roses) so their return is most welcome, given that a hiatus and various other things have happened since 2006.
Also on board for Download 2018 are two stalwarts of the upper stages of the bill at Donington since Download started in 2003 – Bullet For My Valentine and Marilyn Manson. Bullet’s appearance is their first since 2013, while Manson was last seen on Donington turf headlining the second stage in 2015. Japanese phenomenon BABYMETAL will also make their return to the Download Festival in 2018, so prepare to salute The Fox God once again!
For those who like it heavy, Aussie moshpit inciters Parkway Drive return to Download for the first time in three years, while Swedish tech metal royalty Meshuggah make only their second appearance on Donington’s hallowed soil and their first since headlining the tent in 2009. One of metal’s most surprising resurgencies has been Body Count, and Ice T and the rest of the crew will on hand to lay waste to Download next year. If punk is more your thing, then there are different flavours to keep you happy in the shape of Rise Against and The Hives.
Having put his alter ego Andy Black to one side for now, Andy Biersack has returned to Black Veil Brides, who make their first appearance since 2012 alongside their early 2018 UK tour buddies Asking Alexandria. Rounding things off in this announcement are UK pop punk chart botherers Neck Deep, theatrical metal outfit In This Moment, Mayday Parade, Dream State, WSTR and The Pink Slips.
All of those bands join headliners Avenged Sevenfold, Guns N’Roses and Ozzy Osbourne for the 2018 Download Festival at Donington Park from the 8th to the 10th of June 2018 (campsite open 6th-11th).
