We were all set to publish our latest video of the week contest, following last week’s edition won by Newcastle rockers Tomorrow Is Lost, and then another video got released that we couldn’t possibly leave out.
That video is of course Paramore’s Fake Happy. One of the songs of the year in the opinion of many of us here at this publication, the video is equally brilliant, and after certain recent events, very well timed. Sit back, and enjoy. Nothing more needs to be said.
All female Japanese metallers LOVEBITES are a brand new band for us here at Rock Sins, but anyone expecting another Babymetal will be sorely mistaken. Their single Shadow Maker is proper pedal to the floor metal, with elements of NWOBHM, thrash and an overriding power metal feel to it. The vocals are all in English too. Definitely the surprise package of this week – check LOVEBITES out and you may be very pleasantly surprised.
From Japan to Scotland and a dinner party with a difference courtesy of thrashers Disposable with the video for Ravenous. A fine example of modern thrash with an entertaining video to accompany it, we think these guys could go far in the UK thrash scene, both at home and beyond.
Our second dose of Japanese rock this week features the new single My Hero from from the wolf headed Man With A Mission. For those not familiar with the band, they’re rather good at blending various sounds together, with My Hero being an interesting soup of rap rock with heavy bass and electronica thrown in for good measure. Certainly not the kind of song and video you see or hear every week!
From Japan to Italy and electro pop-rockers Halflives, who filmed their new video for Lone Wolf partly here in the UK on their recent tour, as well as across Europe. The Italian quartet are rumoured to be hard at work on new music, so after their excellent debut album Empty Rooms we can’t wait to see what comes next!
Lastly this week we have the brand new video for Normandie latest single Pay For This, the first to feature their new four string player Lucas Englund on bass. Normandie will be hitting the UK in a couple of weeks with Grumble Bee and Ryan Key of Yellowcard, and the release of Pay For This is an ideal warm up for the tour!
So there we are. Six bands, six videos, only one can win. Voting closes at Midday UK time on the 23rd of November. Get voting!
