It’s time for some more bands for the UK’s favourite metal festival as Bloodstock Open Air announce more bands for the 2018 edition.

Top of this new set of bands, and taking the special guest slot for Sunday night are Swedish Gothenburg Sound pioneers At The Gates. They will appear as special guests to Nightwish, in a repeat of the Saturday night of the 2008 festival, where the crowd notably chanted “At The Gates! F*** Nightwish” repeatedly, resulting in At The Gates extending their set in an unscheduled fashion. One wonders what will happen this time around!

Taking up the special guest slot on Saturday on the Sophie Lancaster stage are New Orleans, Louisiana natives Exhorder. Recently reformed, a dose of NOLA metal is sure to go down very well with the Bloodstock hordes. Two more US bands also bag slots on the Sophie Stage – Vegas sludge metallers Weight Of The Tide and Californian death metal collective Sangre.

There was also another announcement recently that we need to catch our readers up on, which features two more acts joining the Ronnie James Dio Main Stage Line Up, and two more for the Sophie Lancaster Stage. Hatebreed main man Jamey Jasta will bring his side project Jasta & Friends to the main stage on Sunday, and one of those friends will be none other than Kirk Windstein of Crowbar fame, with the rest still to be confirmed. Also returning to the BOA main stage will be UK metal veterans Venom Inc, armed with their new album ‘Avé’. Meanwhile over on the Sophie Stage, the Satuday night headliner there will be Israeli metal favourites Orphaned Land. They will be joined on the Sophie Stage on Saturday by Danish prog wizards and makers of great music videos Vola.

All of the above new bands join headliners Judas Priest, Gojira and Nightwish, along with the likes of Emperor, Kamelot, Devildriver, Suicidal Tendencies, Bloodbath, Fozzy and many more at the 2018 Bloodstock Festival.
