We’ve been slacking in the video of the week department again since space rockers Sick N’ Beautiful won out last time, but we’re back and raring to go with six new videos for you all to vote on!
First up this week are Cambridge outfit Mallory Knox, with their debut single with their rejigged line up. Frontman Mikey Chapman has departed, leaving bassist Sam Douglas to step up to take on the mantle of singer. Black Holes is the first offering with Sam at the helm, and is sure to create some debate among Mallory Knox fans old and new!
Who can resist Paramore’s take on 80’s breakfast TV with their new video for Rose Coloured Boy? Not us here at Rock Sins, that’s for sure. It’s brilliantly tongue-in-cheek and things are definitely “rose coloured” by the end of it. We also challenge you to try and get that chorus out of your head after a couple of watches of this video. You won’t be able to.
Musically, the next entry in this weeks’ video of the week is well outside our normal musical range, but read on and you’ll see why it’s been included. The brain child of TesseracT’s Dan Tompkins and Paul Antonio Ortiz (aka the mighty Chimpspanner) – ZETA is their synthwave project, for which they’ve released a brand new single called Causeway. The video has some stunning imagery within, and is a very clever video with an almost Matrix-like concept. Something different for everyone to hopefully enjoy.
Brit rockers SEASONS are old hands when it comes to past video of the week contests, and they’re back with the first single from their upcoming EP Chapters, due in April. “Getaway” is a fine example of what we’ve come to expect from the Bedford five piece, and we’re excited to hear more from their new release.
UK metalcore mob Shields are next up, and take us underwater in their new video for “It’s Killing Me”, their first new material for several years. Their new album Life In Exile is due out in late April, and this is a fine warm up for the full release. It’s also yet another very visually impressive video!
Last up this week are US prog metal supergroup Sons Of Apollo with their new single Alive. A band that includes Mike Portnoy, Bumblefoot and Jeff Scott Soto amongst their members ought to be able to deliver the goods, and that is definitely the case on Alive. Some very picturesque on scene location footage provides the backdrop for this video, so sit back and enjoy.
This weeks’ video of the week contest closes on Monday 27th February at midday UK time. So you know what to do, get voting!
