A freezing cold Monday night in London has brought the hardy out for one reason and one reason only… Carnifex Headline tour!!
Tonight the bill is stacked with bands amongst the best in deathcore at the moment. Distentomb, Aversions Crown, Oceano and Carnifex.
I unfortunately missed Distentomb from travel issues but however made it to the venue for the start of Aversions Crown. This band have been on my radar for some time and it was amazing to finally see them live. The band have created a brand based around the possibility of an alien invasion and the associated extermination of humanity which was really evident in what Mark Poida was talking about on stage. Songs such as “Hollow Planet” and Prismatic Abyss obliterate the venue and they leave the stage happy with the set!
Next were Oceano who recently toured with Thy Art Is Murder in Europe so they are back for a fast round two. For me, Adam Warren has some of the most intense vocals in the scene and has completely nailed his live performance. With the recently new addition of their drummer Matt Kohanowski the band sound tight as ever. After around 20 minutes they encounter technical difficulties which leads them into playing a whole song without any guitar which still sounded good! However, after a long chat to the crowd from Adam the band have to cut the set short. The set from Oceano was solid but short.
Carnifex finally come onto the stage and bring the heaviness they have been unleashing onto the earth for over 10 years. Carnifex are still true to their sound and have not changed with the moving times in the industry and still are able to pack out shows across the globe. For me songs such as “Hatred and Slaughter” and “Slit Wrist Saviour” will always be favourites from their set. All in all, they sounded incredible, production was also a nice touch and the crowed responded well. 9 / 10.
