Within Temptation will return with a new album, ‘Resist’, this winter.
The Dutch goth-metal sextet will release their seventh studio effort and the follow up to 2014’s ‘Hydra’ on December 14. The record will serve as their first release via Spinefarm Records, after the band inked a global deal with Universal Music.
Listen to the record’s lead single, The Reckoning featuring Jacoby Shaddix of Papa Roach, below and check out the album’s cover art. ‘Resist’ marks a departure for the band, with vocalist Sharon Den Adel revealing that the album is influenced by modern music but given a “rebellious edge”.
“With this record, we’ve taken inspiration from modern music and given it a face – a very dark one. Sometimes it feels that today’s pop music lacks a rebellious edge. Our main goal was to collect pieces from sounds we did like then roughen the whole thing up as much as we could, allowing us to shape a new musical world that is heavier, dirtier and more futuristic than we’ve ever created before. Resist is our new take on metal; our way of giving a fresh lease of life to the rebellious edge of modern music.”
The band will accompany the release with tour dates in the UK and Europe throughout the autumn and into winter, including stops in Birmingham, Manchester, Glasgow and London, where they’ll take over the O2 Academy Brixton on November 13.
