Slipknot, Tool and Def Leppard To Headline 2019 Download Festival With Tons More Confirmed

Posted by: Jamie Giberti on 23rd October 2018

There’s absolutely NO fucking around from the Download Festival team this time. Straight into the first announcement, all three Download 2019 headliners have been confirmed along with 17 other bands!

Kicking things off for 2019 are your headliners, Slipknot, Def Leppard (performing Hysteria in full and much more), and the long awaited return of TOOL.

If that’s not enough, then how about the likes of Slash w/ Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators, Whitesnake, Die Antwoord, Rob Zombie and Trivium.

For those who like it heavy, the mighty Amon Amarth return, along with UK extreme metal legends Carcass and modern thrash favourites Power Trip. One of Download’s house bands down the years, Skindred are back to bring the party along with ska legends Reel Big Fish, while Mikael Akerfeldt’s dry wit on stage is almost as unmissable as Opeth are. Add into the mix Delain, The Amity Affliction, Starset, Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, Tesla and Underoath.

Here’s The Godfather of Donington, Andy Copping, on this year’s first announcement:

“We’re incredibly excited to announce three legends as Download 2019 headliners. It’s not quite been 10,000 Days since we have been able to indulge in one of our favourite alt-rock bands, but after thirteen years I am thrilled to announce Tool are finally making their long-awaited return to Download. Renowned for being one of the best live bands on the planet due to their one-of-a-kind performances, Slipknot are an incredible addition to the main stage. Last but not least, I am honoured to welcome true Rock N’ Roll legends Def Leppard to Download who bring with them a UK exclusive chance to see Hysteria played in full.”

Tickets for Download 2019 will be back on stage on Thursday, 25th of October at 2pm UK time. Tickets will remain at 2018 prices until Tuesday 6th of November. More updates will follow in the coming weeks!
