It has been awhile since the last Rock Sins video of the week contest, won by Rxptxrs – but we’re back in a big way with five brand new videos for our readers enjoyment.
The only place we could start this week was with Brighton’s finest metalcore masters Architects. Having dropped the second single from the upcoming Holy Hell album, Royal Beggars to thunderous feedback, it was only fitting that Royal Beggars became the first track in this installment of video of the week. We won’t say too much about the video, and would recommend watching it as soon as possible while Sam, Josh, Dan and co unleash the latest evolution of their trademark sound.
Farnborough rockers Delayed Departure are next up this week with their latest offering Neon Lights. With a soaring main riff, a memorale chorus and a simple yet effective video, Neon Lights is liable to wedge its way into your brain and remain there for a long time.
In terms of bands who consistently put out excellent videos over the last few years, you’ll find few better than Danish prog-rock-metal hybrids VOLA. They’ve gone and done it again with their latest visual masterpiece to accompany new single Alien Shivers, taken from their upcoming new album Applause Of A Distant Crowd.
Nottingham metalcore bruisers The Five Hundred are enjoying great success with their latest album Bleed Red, and they’ve just dropped a video for the album’s title track. A very effective combination of a lot of white and a smattering, or should that be splattering, of the red stuff, it’s another video making very effective use of simple visuals while the track unleashes an audible battering on your eardrums.
Last but not least, a hugely creative video from indie-rock legends Gin Blossoms, who recently celebrated their 25th anniversary. For the video for their new single Face The Dark, they’ve used real footage captured by world famous storm chaser Chad Cowan which has been melded into a spectacular time lapse style video. A stunning compilation that just has to be seen.
Arguably five of the most disparate videos we’ve ever had collected in a Rock Sins video of the week contest – there can only be one winner! The vote closes at 12pm midday UK time on Wednesday 10th October – so get voting!
