Rock Sins Video Of The Week

Some time has passed since Devin Townsend won our last video of the week contest, but fear not, we’re back with a fresh batch of great songs and videos to crown a new winner.

Firmly into the build up for their new, untitled album, we have to start things off with Rammstein. Following the overwhelming success of Deutschland, it’s time for their new album’s second single, Radio. Having racked up over 2 million views in just twelve hours, its another very special video from one of heavy music’s masters of the art. Pitching somewhere between a 1950’s feel and Kraftwerk, all we can say is Rammstein have done it again. That chorus will be getting you for weeks, if not months. As with most Rammstein videos, it is definitely NSFW.

Winner of our last video of the week contest, after Mr Devin Townsend released another breathtaking video, we couldn’t not give him the chance to win two in a row. Devin has taken things truly intergalactic with the video for Spirits Will Collide. It’s a truly memerising video (where else will you see a gorilla on lead guitar any time soon), and an equally enjoyable song.

Having just announced their brand new album, Order In Decline, Canadian metal loving punk rockers Sum 41 are back! The first single from Order In Decline is the infectious Out For Blood, which is vying for the title of this week’s video of the week! If this is an indication of what’s to come, it’s going to be a very interesting album indeed.

As well as having our last video of the week winner in Devin Townsend involved, we’ve also got our video of the year winners for 2018 back this time out. Not Ur Girlfrenz have proved a smash hit on both sides of the ocean in the last few monhs since they won our video of the year title, and they’re now back with a brand new video. Somehow is a slower change of pace compared to some of their other songs, but it’s one that suits them and shows, even at such young ages, they’re very adept at multiple styles of song.

Having reunited to such success with TesseracT over the last couple of years, we find their vocalist Daniel Tompkins doing his own thing here. His forthcoming solo album, Castles, lands at the end of May and Limitless is the second single from the album. It’s much more lo-fi that one has come to expect from Dan’s time with TesseracT, but it’s still very engaging and the video takes you on a journey (literally) from start to dinish.

At Rock Sins, we like to blow our own trumpet occasionally, or more important that of our incredibly talented team. This is one of those occasions, as the video for wars cover of Yungblud & Halsey’s 11 Minutes was put together by none other than Rock Sins’ own Matt Higgs. We know we’re biased, but we think he’s done a great job – as have wars with their take on this mega hit from the mainstream.

Concluding things this week are electro flavoured alt-rockers from Sweden, Port Noir, with their new single Flawless. Having had some heavy support from the likes of Radio One on previous tracks, its quite easy to see why the mainstream may be rushing to support these guys, walking the tightrope between the rock and more accessible worlds with aplomb. Swedes don’t usually get it wrong when it comes to rock or metal, and Port Noir look set to carry on that track record.

So there we have it. 7 videos – only one possible winner. The vote will close at 12pm Midday UK time on Friday 3rd of May 2019. Get voting!
