Things have been a little quiet from Download Festival HQ recently. We’ve had new line up announcements from the likes of Slam Dunk Festival and Bloodstock Open Air for 2020. Oh, not forgetting the stunning first announcement from ArcTanGent too! So an announcement from the Download Festival 2020 team was due. Lo and behold, they’ve delivered with a whopping 37 (THIRTY SEVEN) new bands for next years Donington festivities.

Top of the pile in this new announcement are Killswitch Engage. Coming off the back of a very successful UK tour last month, Download are delighted to welcome Jesse Leach and friends back to Donington once again for 2020. Also making a return following a very successful Autumn 2019 UK tour are Danish / US favourites Volbeat. They’re headlining festivals across Europe, and their slot at Download 2020 is their biggest ever UK festival slot, so the Volbeat train keeps rollin’ on and on.

Other notable additions to the Download Festival 2020 line up includes the Kawaii dance metal phenomenon that is Babymetal, who won over many doubters with their excellent performance in 2018 – can they go one better this time? Aussie hard rockers Airbourne are back to raise hell, literally, if they’re allowed by festival health and safety, and they’ll be joined by the superb Baroness, fresh from supporting Volbeat on that highly successful tour we mentioned earlier.

For those who like their metal a bit more extreme, we’ve got Dying Fetus (#WhyNotDyingFetus indeed) and Obituary who were so excellent on the Slayer farewell tour. For those of a more technical disposition, Aussie djent kings Periphery are heading back to Download to bamboozle us all. Plus the wonderfully doomy Electric Wizard are also making their return to cast their spell over Download in 2020. Flying the flag for the up and comers are the likes of the rifftastic Puppy and the incendiary Wargasm. Stone Broken are also hoping to build on their very popular performance of a couple of years ago.

On top of those excellent varied acts, Download 2020 also brings you Powerwolf, Bush, The Pretty Reckless, Theory (Of A Deadman), Skillet, Wednesday 13, Pup, Lit, British Lion, Bleed From Within, Dead Label, Blues Pills, P.O.D, Wayward Sons, Bokassa, Blackout Problems, Chelsea Grin, Cellar Door Moon Crow, Lotus Eater, Mariana’s Trench, The Last Internationale, The Wildhearts, Tiny Moving Parts, Uncured and Dead Posey.

All of the above join headliners KISS, Iron Maiden (on their Legacy Of The Beast tour) and System Of A Down plus Gojira, Disturbed, Deftones, KoRn, Alestorm and more already announced for Download Festival 2020 – taking place at Donington Park from June 12th – June 14th 2020.
