Having already released both Chapter One and Chapter Two of their upcoming second album, at the beginning of last year, midlands based post-hardcore band Wars have now released the first instalment of Chapter Three, from A Hundred Shivers, which will be released later this year.
A Hell Behind My Eyes, released today, is the first track from chapter three and while releasing an album in chapters may be not be the typical way of doing things, but according to frontman Rob Vicars, that was part of the appeal. “It means we can wrap all our little communications around each individual selection of songs really tightly, and be creative in a tonne of different spaces, all over the course of this one record.
Speaking about the single the band said it “is a journey into the ravaged landscape that often lays beneath. Some of us have our hardest days underneath a cloak of ‘hellos’ and ‘doing greats’ and ‘you toos’, and in these times it can feel even more separate – like there’s a whole world in our heads that swallows us up the moment it’s given half a chance. It’s also, hopefully, a message to those that are struggling, that they are not alone.”
