The sad news that we all expected has been confirmed; Download Festival 2021 has been cancelled. It was always inevitable given the state of the world with the COVID-19 pandemic, but with the festival’s dates falling before the Government’s intended target “full re-opening” date of the 21st of June, the Download team have now confirmed the festival will not take place this year.
Download Festival 2022 will take place from the 10th – 12th of June 2022. The new lineup of headliners has been confirmed as the returning KISS (Friday night), with Biffy Clyro closing the festival on Sunday. Middle Saturday sees the return of Iron Maiden (who were originally supposed to play Download 2020), who take the place of System Of A Down, who drop off the lineup having been originally scheduled for 2020 and 2021.
Those who want to carry their tickets over to 2022 are able to do so. Those who want a refund should contact their ticket provider.
Further updates on Download Festival 2022 will follow in due course as and when more information is available. Other UK festivals such as 2000 Trees, Bloodstock, ArcTanGent and the rescheduled Slam Dunk (moved to September) are currently going ahead as scheduled. More information and news about all of these festivals will be available here at Rock Sins – so stay tuned.
