Today, UK-based post-hardcore band WARS treated us to a surprise cover single – a pretty epic version of Taylor Swift’s Exile, featuring Bon Iver. Having previously released a cover of Yungblud and Halsey’s 11 Minutes back in 2019, this is now the band’s second cover and has been released almost two year’s apart.
Earlier this month the band also released the third chapter of their A Hundred Shivers album, High Art, Low Culture, which is available to stream now.
Speaking about how the cover came about, vocalist Rob Vicars said, “It’s crazy to think of what has been achieved by so many people in lockdown – funny to think what art we may or may not have now thanks to this massive, global societal shift; art that in some ways can bring us all closer together. Covering Taylor Swift’s Exile felt super special to us – we connected with the song massively, and as only the second cover we’ve ever recorded, it felt right. To be putting it out now, right as we head into yet another chapter of A Hundred Shivers, and as we prepare to hopefully (hopefully) play some shows again, is super exciting. We hope you love it.“
