Earlier this month MOD SUN released the deluxe version of his album Internet Killed The Rockstar, which featured eight new tracks, including acoustic versions of some of those featured on the original. One of those new tracks included Amnesia, which has been released as the latest single.
In a recent chat MOD told us that Amnesia was the track that featured some of his favourite lyrics. (Check out the interview here.)
The video for the track, which was co-directed by MOD, opens with him stood hand-in-hand with Avril Lavigne, in front of the Internet Killed The Rockstar tombstone, where previous single, Flames left off. We then see MOD kidnapped and made to perform for for a rich super fan. He eventually takes his chance to escape, when handed a skateboard to pose with in a photo, which he uses to smack over his kidnapper’s security guard in the face, before skating away.
The carefully crafted concept of the video also pays homage to previous videos Karma and Bones showcasing the full circle that is MOD SUN’s visual landscape.
Speaking about the concept of the video MOD said, “Machine Gun Kelly always tells me that I’m the art, so why don’t we make a video that’s me being the final art piece.”
“I wanted to make a video about an art collector, the biggest MOD SUN fan in the world and they have been collecting every piece from MOD SUN that they can get and the final piece is MOD SUN himself. I was making this and wondering when does this world of collection stop? Does it only stop when you actually collect the person? Is that the end goal? That’s what I made this video about.”
