Bristol-based rock group Little Thief are hugely tipped as ones to watch. With their brand new release FREAK it’s easy to see why and with their upcoming debut album Under The Patio due for release in September, this leading single gives a great look at what else is to come.
Long-time collaborators, Charlie Fitzgerald and Rhii Williams formed Little Theif in 2015, creating their own brand of raw, gritty and soulful alternative rock that defines itself. With a handful of successful singles under their belts, Little Thief have played sets at Glastonbury and Liverpool Sound City, and received support from music industry legend Steve Lamacq (BBC 6), BBC Introducing, and Amazing Radio.
As interest in the band has quickly grown, Little Thief began work with independent record label, Funnel Records; helping shape them into the band they are today. Sadly, like many others in the arts industry, the band have been financially hit by the pressures of Covid, with Funnel Records sadly no longer being active. Not letting this set them back, Little Thief turned to a crowdfunder and raised a huge £5000 to create their debut album, showing what love their fans have for the music being shared.
FREAK will instantly grab you from the get go, with a powerful and punchy bass line almost hypnotising you in, you’ll be drawn into this foot tapping hit.

With a soulful and alternative rock sound, there’s an unmistakable swagger that shines through. Blending jagged guitars with Fitzgeralds stand out and cathartic vocals, FREAK has a signature sound that is impossible to get out of your head in the best way possible. Throughout this lead single you’re taken on an exhilarating journey.
“We wanted to capture the feeling of excitement and fear that comes with those explosively beautiful people. We all know that person or group of people that have the ability to bring out our “fuck it” side. I’ve had a load of people like this in my life, Rhii being one of them. They are magnanimous and that knock on the door on a Friday night always feels like the beginning of a superhero film”, explains lyricist Charlie Fitzgerald.
Little Thief have created a loud and punchy track that deserves to be played at the loudest volume possible. It’s hard not to think about being in a room full of people listening to this song being belted out live and loud. FREAK is a track that just adds to the huge anticipation of live music returning and how much it can amplify a track.
