After the release of their stellar album, Power, last year; Scotland’s iconic Twin Atlantic return with their seductive and slick new single Bang On The Gong. The release of the track comes with a brand new video, directed by Nick Afchain. Set in a fictional variety show, the bands frontman Sam McTrusty hosts.
This release is something undoubtedly bold, fresh, and exciting. Having premiered on Radio 1, the track gives off nothing but style and charisma in a way we’ve never seen before. Bang On The Gong marks an exciting new start for the next chapter of the Scot’ prolific career.
Taking on the role of producer, Bassist Ross McNae said: “Taking more than a little influence from a recent movie, the possible narrative of our video highlights the fleeting nature of success, while also shining a light on how far we;ve come as a society since those days. After eighteen months of turmoil is there any other way to play the visuals than to have fun and not take life too seriously?”
With this new video, frontman Sam McTrusty slips with ease into a reserved, charming, fun and seductive role. Acting as the presenter for fictional variety show, McTrusty performs alongside dancers front and centre while embracing a fun and exciting new direction for Twin Atlantic.
Talking on the release, McTrusty says: “We let the director Nick Afchain take the lead and he imagined ‘Bang On The Gong’ as an old seedy 70’s TV show. It’s very tounge-and-cheek, which matches the song because the track doesn’t take itself too seriously. It’s been so much more relaxing letting people who inspire you tale the reins, instead of others foing it for you, and it allows for everyone to feel much more invested in the project. I could taste the cigarettes for about 3 days after the shoot! 90% of the people in the studio that day were some of my best mates, which was a new experience. I felt really proud of everyone involved on a personal level”
Delivering a triumphant main stage performance at this year’s Download Festival Pilot, the band are making a huge return and will now hit the road for their rescheduled 11-date August/September UK headline tour. This is just the start of a new era for Twin Atlantic – one that’s going to be bold, adventurous and a huge amount of fun. It’s time to get your attention firmly set on everything Twin Atlantic are set to deliver.
