A day with a new Skindred song is usually a good day, and today is no different! The Welsh ragga metal quartet have dropped their first new song of 2023, Set Fazers! Following on from their late 2022 ripper Gimme That Boom, Set Fazers is the next song to surface from their upcoming album Smile, due for release on Earache Records on August 4th.
On the subject of their new single, here’s Skindred frontman Benji Webbe to tell us all more:
Star date 22.3.23: With this song we’re boldly going where no ragga-metal has gone before. We come in peace, L.O.V.E and unity, to bring Skindred’s outergalactic sound-system to the infinite expanse of the cosmos.
The video for the track brought together a collaboration with dance star Shin, who sparked a huge wave of awareness of Skindred on TikTok with a dance for the band’s breakout song Nobody. Following this, the band brought him on board to take part in the video for Set Fazers. Here’s drummer Arya Goggin to explain more about their working together:
The idea with the ‘Set Fazers’ video was to make a Sci Fi meets Dancehall epic! Through TikTok we met an amazing dancer called Shin (whose dance to our song ‘Nobody’ went viral earlier this year) and he’s added his unique style to the video too. We had so much fun filming it and can’t wait to share it with everyone.

The pre-orders for Skindred’s new album Smile are available on the Earache Store now. The band have a wide range of live dates coming up, ranging from festival headline slots to supporting the legendary KISS on their latest run of farewell tour dates.
There are headline slots at both Takedown Festival in Portsmouth in April and Dominion Festival in Durham in May. There’s then a run of shows with KISS, Nova Rock Festival in Austria, more shows with KISS, a special guest slot in their 2000Trees Festival debut, the Maid Of Stone new festival in Maidstone, and a huge slot at the legendary Wacken Open Air in Germany!
