It’s been nearly five years since Slayer took their final bow. Collectively hanging up their instruments after a final farewell show on Saturday November 30th 2019 at the Los Angeles Forum.
However, despite leaving the signature chains that have hung from his belt for over three decades on stage that night. Leaving the world with an image that came to define the end of thrash metals most legendary bands. King quickly announced he would be returning with a new band and new material.
Despite production being delayed by the global pandemic that followed Slayers break-up. King’s long awaited solo album, From Hell I Rise is now finally set for release on May 17th via Reigning Phoenix Music. With the albums debut track, Idle Hands landing a few days ago.
Fast, furious and unmistakably born from the same twisted mind that helped write hits like Raining Blood and Mandatory Suicide. Idle Hands has already caused quite a stir in the metal community. Racking up over half a million views on YouTube alone in its first week.
King hasn’t been alone in his endeavour to keep bringing thrash to the masses either. Enlisting the help of former Slayer drummer Paul Bostaph, Machine Head and Vio-lence alumni Phil Demmel on guitar, Death Angel vocalist Mark Osegueda and Kyle Sanders of Hellyeah fame on bass guitar. All of whom worked diligently alongside producer Josh Wilbur to help bring From Hell I Rise to fruition.
According to King, the new music consists of “various religious topics, some war entries, heavy stuff, punky stuff, doomy stuff, and spooky stuff, with Herculean speeds achieved. If you’ve ever liked any Slayer throughout any part of our history,” he adds, “there’s something on this record that you’ll get into, be it classic punk, fast punk, thrash, or just plain heavy metal!”?
From Hell I Rise will be available on May 17th via RPM and is available to pre-order now. For more information and updates you can keep up to date at the bands offical website.
