After receiving huge critical acclaim for their album ‘Sanguivore’, goth rock group Creeper have just released ‘Sanguivore: Special Edition’. The band have launched this album alongside a new track named Love and Pain. Additionally, this comes accompanied by three other new tracks, expanding the universe of their vampiric rock opera.
This latest track is a haunting desert noir ballad that features frontman Will Ghould’s crooning voice, musing on the theme of “despair despair, everywhere”, creating a hybrid of Chris Isaak and Glenn Danzig. This song also adds a fresh chapter of gloomily elegant malevolence to the album’s overall vision.
Elsewhere, ‘Sanguivore: Special Edition’ hosts an array of special surprises. Other new tracks include ‘Shadows of the Night’ playing up to their ‘80s power ballad leanings and theatrical flamboyance as keyboardist/vocalist Hannah Hermione takes charge for their take on Pat Benatar’s 1982 Grammy winner. She also commands the mic for the creepily cute murder ballad Phantom Fantasia. This special release also includes an extended mix of the album’s lead single Cry To Heaven. The mix, from producer Tom Dalgety, pumps the original’s drama to maximum with grittier riffs, an extended atmospheric breakdown with a grandiose guitar solo that Ian Miles.
The special edition also features a new black-and-white version of its striking cover art created by Gut Slaughter. This new version will offer a different spin on the original version of the cover art, which was created by Welder Wings and earned Creeper a nomination for Best Album Art at this year’s Heavy Music Awards, as well as Best Album. The album is available on streaming services now.
Meanwhile the band has started their 19-date North American tour as special guests of Black Veil Brides. The tour includes major shows in New York and Los Angeles. The band will then return to the UK this summer to play main stage sets at Download and 2000trees festivals, followed by their own show in Portsmouth.
