As far as first festival line up announcements go, Bloodstock Open Air Festival have smashed it out of the park with their opening blast of bands for 2025.
In their opening 19 band salvo, Bloodstock have revealed all three main stage headliners for next years festival and a viking boat load of other good stuff too. Kicking things off on the Friday night of Bloodstock are Florida’s favourite modern metallers Trivium! 10 years after their debut Catton Hall performance, Matt, Corey, Paolo and Alex are back to open the first night of BOA on their 20th anniversary year of their breakthrough album Ascendancy. Joining them as their special guests are black metal royalty Emperor. Fronted by Matt Heafy’s great friend Ihsahn, maybe there’s an opportunity for an Ibaraki track or two (Matt’s black metal project collaboration with Ihsahn) along the way.
Saturday night sees the return of the legendary Machine fuckin Head to Bloodstock. 2022’s secret band are back in full force and will be bringing the full production set that tore it up so well at Download this year back to Catton Hall in 2025.
The 2025 festival will be closed by none other than Olympic opening ceremony heroes Gojira! Having brought metal to the masses on a brand new global scale, the French rifflords will close BOA next year in spectacular style.
There’s a fantastic selection of bands also joining the Ronnie James Dio main stage across the weekend. Italian goth rock favourites Lacuna Coil and stoner metal royalty Orange Goblin join Trivium and Emperor on Friday. American metalcore force Kublai Khan TX join Machine Head on Saturday, as do UK goth rock favourites Creeper, making their Bloodstock debut! If Creeper were ever going to play Bloodstock on any album, it was this one, and so it has proven. Sunday sees a genre smorgasbord along Gojira, with the power metal of Lord Of The Lost, metalcore/hardcore crossover royalty in the shape of The Black Dahlia Murder, medieval metal from Feuerschwanz and metalcore from August Burns Red!
Theres also plenty of action for the Sophie Lancaster Stage with all four headliners and two of the special guests!
Saturday sees nu metal favourites Static-X in the house to headline the Sophie Stage, and they are joined by flamenco metal favourites Breed 77! Sunday night The Sophie Stage is closed by two legendary metal bands in the shape of Obituary and 3 Inches Of Blood, while Friday death metal favourites Kataklysm take the headline honours. German metallers All For Metal will kick things off Thursday night.
This announcement was originally made at the 2024 Bloodstock Festival, and the festival is already three quarters sold out for 2025! If you want tickets, hurry up and grab them from Seetickets now! The organisers predict they will be sold out even before the next line up announcement in a few weeks.
Stay tuned for further updates and line up news from Bloodstock, as well as all of the UK’s other major rock and metal festivals.
