Shocking news out of the Mastodon camp this evening. The band posted on their social media accounts at about 6pm UK time that Guitarist / vocalist Brent Hinds was no longer part of Mastodon. The full statement can be read below:
Friends and Fans, After 25 monumental years together, Mastodon and Brent Hinds have mutually decided to part ways. We’re deeply proud of and beyond grateful for the music and history we’ve shared and we wish him nothing but success and happiness in his future endeavors. We are still very inspired and excited to show up for fans in this next chapter of Mastodon. As we move forward, all 2025 touring plans will remain intact. We look forward to seeing you on the road. – Mastodon
Hinds co-founded the band alongside remaining members Troy Sanders, Brann Dailor and Bill Kelliher in the year 2000.
Mastodon are due in the UK later this year, appearing at the Black Sabbath: Back To The Beginning farewell show at Villa Park on July 5th. They are also part of the just announced Slayer one day mini festivals in Cardiff and London either side of the Black Sabbath show.
Mastodon are also set to embark on a huge US headline tour alongside Coheed and Cambria and Periphery in May, prior to festival season.
Any further updates on this story, including news of any replacement / new members for Mastodon, will be reported here at Rock Sins in due course.
