When it comes to powerhouse British rock vocalists of the past 30 years there are very few that can match the power, range or sheer consistency of live performance as Skunk Anansie and their riotous leader Skin, and if ever there was doubt that she would go down as one of her generations greats, than this latest wildly enthusiastically received tour by the London 4-piece will quickly put that silliness to bed.
Mark Richardson, Ace and Cass join Skin in spreading the Skunk Anansie gospel of anti-racist, anti-fascist and anti-right wing rhetoric, drawing huge applause from the gathered masses, and it might just be that 31 years into their careers that message might never be more important than it is now. Thankfully, in Skin, we not only have a gifted singer with an incredible vocal range, we also have a passionate, brave and emotionally intelligent human being that fully understands what’s at stake in 2025. She stalks the stage, a whirlwind of energy, anger and pure conviction and her vocal performance, belting out all the hits spanning their whole catalogue, was as flawlessly breathtaking as it was vitally received. A generational talent? Skin might just be the best rock vocalist the UK has produced in the last 30 years…
Our photographer Daniel Ackerley-Holmes was on hand to capture this rock n roll sermon in all its glory.
