All time emotive punk heros, Spanish Love Songs, have just dropped their new acoustic version of the beautiful track ‘Pendulum.’ Coming as part of a line of reworked songs under the title “No Joy Sessions” from their critically acclaimed album.
“This version of Pendulum is a bit closer to the original song we scrapped in the studio — upbeat and driving. Speeding it up always changed how I would read or react to the lyrics. It softens them a bit, and I think it is why we ultimately slowed it down for the album. But I always loved both, so it’s nice to have a “happier” version out.” shared Dylan Slocum.
The original album, produced by the band and Collin Pastore, and mixed by Carlos de la Garza was highly praised by both critics and fans alike for a no-holds-barred, all emotions laid to bare and richly personal offering. Filled with existential dread and hyper-personal cultural ruminations there was something for all fans to connect to on a deep level. The stripped back versions of the songs offer a chance of finding peace in the quieter moments and embracing the negative space.
Spanish Love Songs are also gearing up for a huge run of headline shows. The band will play Furnace fest on Friday 3rd October before heading out to Europe for a string of headline shows, and then onto joining Hot Water Music, Comeback Kid, Joyce Manor, and more punk and alternative bands playing in the brand new traveling festival Common Thread.
