Hot Mulligan Announce New Album & Share New Track “And A Big Load”

Rising post-emo stars Hot Mulligan are back with more music and have just announced their highly-anticipated fourth full-length LP, The Sound a Body Makes When It’s Still which will be with us on 22nd August 2025 via Wax Bodega.

Giving us the first offering off the new record, “And a Big Load” is out today accompanied by a brand new music video.

This brand new track gives a bold and punk infused rager that sets the tone for what else is in store for listeners when we get the album in august. Powered by angst and frustration about the positions we put ourselves in, the track delivers a cathartic, scream-in-your-car moment. In classic Hot Mulligan style, the lyrics bluntly deliver the difficulty of being painfully self-aware, as the band laments, “Nothing good can come of me, I’m useless.” The accompanying music video, directed by Michael Herrickcaptures the track’s perfectly chaotic energy with a high-energy skate park performance.

The Sound a Body Makes When It’s Still is set to be Hot Mulligan’s most comprehensive album to date. In addition to bold riffs and careful sonic nuances, it’s packed full tackling fears head on, unfiltered vulnerabilities, and finding solace in the fact that regardless of the uncertainty of the future, we exist in this moment. Despite the subject matter, Hot Mulligan strike a balance between sincerity and humor, and find the light moments of comfort, even when it feels impossible.

Hot Mulligan is a ride-or-die testament to staying true to yourself. When the emo band formed in 2014 and cut their teeth playing house shows and naming songs by closing their eyes and typing into auto-correct on their phones, no one expected they’d be selling out thousand-cap venues, one of their scene’s most respected bands a decade later.

Not only do we have the news of a new album or track, but tomorrow marks the group kicking off a monumental finale to their year. Set to embark on an intimate run of shows in Brooklyn, Chicago, Detroit, and more, the shows will bookend a performance at Bonnaroo in Tennessee and follow performances at Pittsburgh’s Four Chord Music Festival, and Sea. Hear. Now. Festival in Asbury Park in September. Later in September, the band will bring their revered live performances back to the UK and Europe as they support Pierce The Veil.
