With little over a month to go until Bloodstock unleashes some of the worlds most potent heavy metal acts upon the Derbyshire countryside. The festival has bolstered it’s already impressive roster this week. Adding seventeen more bands from it’s grassroots Metal 2 The Masses contests which have been taking place all over the UK.
Taking over the Timothy Taylor New Blood stage in just a few weeks time. The cream of the Metal 2 The Masses crop will get the chance to share a spot on the line-up alongside the likes of Machine Head, Trivium and Gojira. Giving the hotly tipped rising stars a chance to bolster their fanbases alongside titans of the heavy metal scene.
Joining the line-up on Friday, you can look forward to tealdeer, led by their masked Ominous Deer Man. As well as Polish speed metal addicts Rascal. With Glam metal outfit Backseat Juliet rounding out the first days additions with a little old school rock ‘n’ roll.
On Saturday the New Blood stage will be host to London deathcore demolition squad SYMBYOTE. Along with a little Welsh folk metal from Adefeilion. Cheltenham heat victors Prodigal. Some doom laden riffage courtesy of Norwegian five piece, Zebulon. The funky grooves of Mantis Defeats Jaguar, coming straight out of the home of heavy metal in Birmingham. Pig squealing slam antics from Essex boys Mechromorph. As well as a little punk rock chaos from the aptly named Head Dent. With Kent winners Unnatural Order topping off the additions to the days already stacked bill.
Bringing it all home on Sunday will be prog-metal technicians Ocean Planet. Some traditional heavy metal swagger from Somersets own RIZEN, who are most definitely not to be mistaken for a popular chocolate chew. Hitchin hardcore headbangers Headcount. The dark post-metal soundscapes of KOBA. Ruled By Raptors proving life does indeed find a way, landing a slot on the festivals dinosaur fancy dress day. With BAD EARTH from North Wales poised to wrap things up with a little Motorhead infused rock.
We caught up with Birmingham victors Mantis Defeats Jaguar. Who had this to say about joining the festivals impressive roster- “We still don’t think it’s quite sunk in yet, but seeing our name on the artwork today with some of our heroes has us buzzing and we can’t wait to get up on stage and show Bloodstock what we do. It’s gonna be a party to remember.”
